Dubai has approved a new 65km suspended transport system to connect key neighborhoods and improve public travel in the city.

Dubai has approved the 'Suspended Transport Systems Project,' a 65km smart mobility initiative connecting Umm Suqeim Street, Al Khor, and Zabeel. The announcement was made by the Executive Council of Dubai as part of a broader strategy to enhance the city’s leadership across various sectors over the next decade.

According to the Dubai Media Office (DMO), this new system aims to increase the share of autonomous or driverless public transport journeys to 25% of all trips by 2030. The suspended transport system will be integrated with other modes of transportation, ensuring efficient and sustainable movement throughout the emirate.

While further details about the innovative transport system are yet to be released, the Roads and Transport Authority previously showcased mock-up models of Dubai Sky Pods at a government summit. These sky pods will be mounted on elevated beams that criss-cross the city, designed to maintain a horizontal position even on inclines, providing a smooth and comfortable ride for passengers.

One of the most exciting aspects of the sky pods is their elevated design, which offers passengers a scenic view as they travel across Dubai.
